Privacy policy

FindCare Ghana ("FindCare", "we", "us") runs findcareghana.com, a directory of hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, ambulance services, hearse services and caregivers in Ghana. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

Searching the directory

You do not need an account to search. If you press Use my location or Emergency help, your browser asks for permission to share your location. When you allow it, your approximate coordinates are sent to our server to find nearby care, and kept in your browser until you close the tab. We do not save them to our database or link them to you.

Contact requests

When you ask to be listed, we collect the facility name and type, phone number, email address and, if you give them, your name and message. We use this to verify the organization, create its listing and send its sign-in details. We keep the request with the listing record.

Accounts for listed organizations

Staff of listed organizations sign in with an email address and password. We store the password only in a scrambled (hashed) form, and we record changes made to listings so we can check who changed what.

Information we publish

Listings show business information such as the facility name, address, location, phone number, services and opening hours. Organizations should give us business contact details, not private ones.

Cookies and browser storage

We use your browser's storage for things the site needs to work: remembering your location for the visit, keeping staff signed in and remembering your cookie choice.

With your permission we also use Google Analytics cookies to count visits and see which pages are used. These are off unless you press Accept on the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of each page. Google processes this information for us; see Google's privacy policy.

Server logs

Like most websites, our server keeps technical logs such as IP address, browser type, the address requested and the time. A requested address can include search details, such as coordinates. We use these logs only for security and troubleshooting and keep them for a limited time.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with services that help us run FindCare, such as our hosting provider (DigitalOcean) and, if you accept analytics, Google. This means your information may be stored on servers outside Ghana. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Keeping information safe

The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, and only approved staff can reach the management tools. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us at once if you think an account has been misused.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we do not need to keep it. Email info@findcareghana.com. If you are not happy with our reply, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

Children

FindCare is a general health directory. Accounts are only for staff of listed organizations, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top.
